MODERN STUDIO

This Pacific Northwest island studio, overlooking the Puget Sound, is a sleek minimalistic cabin that evokes the color and texture of the adjacent original log cabin home. Dug into the hillside with a pitched roof that opens up to the vistas of the Sound, this airy and open structure is home to family gatherings and artistic endeavors. The horizontal cedar rainscreen, deep eaves and porch projections offer refuge from the coastal weather.  The studio feels deeply rooted in the earth, encircled by a bluestone terrace, edged by board-formed concrete planters.
