TOP OF THE BANK
Yes. That actually was a double-wide. The much beloved family plot, high on a bank overlooking the Haro Strait, has served for decades as a base for action- fishing, boating, biking, relaxing. A manufactured home was planted on a conventional foundation in the ‘70’s. Low ceilings and cramped spaces turned a blind eye to the incredible views and light. Clerestory windows were added to the very top of newly raised roof and view-walls to the west, allowing sunlight deep into the renovated spaces. Cement board and steel cladding, coupled with metal roofs and much larger metal-clad wood windows, allow for a low maintenance getaway that takes a heavy dose of high winds, rain and salt spray from the Sound. Corten steel awnings provide outdoors spots out of the rain. Modern, spacious bathrooms and kitchen round out the vacation experience.
